The Profit

Television Show: The Profit (2016). On this CNBC Prime show, self-made millionaire and serial entrepreneur Marcus Lemonis lends his expertise to struggling businesses in various industries across the country by focusing on his oft-stated keys to success – people, process, and product – the three Ps.

Serving as his own host, Lemonis analyzes businesses by what I believe is the most important factor, the quality of people; by identifying the best possible process for creating, delivering, and selling the particular product; and discerning if the owners are in possession of a truly relevant product.

The premise of the show is that if Lemonis likes the business based on his assessment utilizing the three Ps, he makes an offer to become a partner … for a price. His offers typically involve three components: providing cash to his new partners (typically used to settle outstanding debt), taking a percentage of the company, and the condition that he be 100% in charge while getting the business reoriented and set up according to his vision.

The Profit airs new shows on Tuesdays at 10:00P ET and past shows are available for streaming via the CNBC app.
