Capturing the Readers Attention
As I often do, I placed my review copy on the desk in my office area soon after receiving it and removing it from the packing material. Shortly thereafter I happened upon my wife thumbing through the book’s first few pages. She indicated she was interested in reading more. I suggested that since she would be reading it, why not go a step further and provide the book’s review. She readily accepted. So this, my friends, is my wife’s review of The Integrity Advantage: Step into Your Truth, Love Your Life, and Claim Your Magnificence.
The 186 pages are split between 14 chapters broken down into three parts. The structure works well and allows the reader to make a seamless transition between the invitation, the process and the plan.
The Invitation, Process and Plan
To establish a starting point – in Part One – Kosow encourages the reader to modify their definition of integrity. To be certain, the critical elements of honesty are till present. However, Kosow fleshes out the meaning by noting that to live with integrity is to be honest about who you are, your strengths, weaknesses, your wishes, your desires and what must be done to live a more positive life. She identifies the sub-conscience or conscience mantras, what she terms the Integrity Snatchers, which often hold people back from achieving the best possible life.
Kosow weaves these ideas into Part Two of her book, by helping the reader dig deeper into their own lives in order to rid themselves of the forces which are holding them back. The list of questions developed by Kosow help the reader understand the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of whatever it is that is holding them back.
Part Three ties it all together. Kosow outlines how to not only develop a plan for the future, but how to stay on track. She reminds readers that it can be easy to slide back into bad, self-defeating habits. I particularly enjoyed reading Kosow’s idea about how to create a Lifestyle Plan, a workable, useable, and self-affirming plan. Reading it brought a smile to my face and a knowing nod. Creating and managing a life, or lifestyle, plan is something my husband speaks to regularly here at RetirementSavvy and in our private conversations.
The final 13 pages serve as the book’s conclusion. The integrity promise is summarized, acknowledgments are made, notes are shared and readers get to learn about the author. A well conceived and written book on self exploration and personal growth that contains great lessons for readers. The Integrity Advantage: Step into Your Truth, Love Your Life, and Claim Your Magnificence is available at Amazon in Kindle and Hardcover formats.
